Study Room Policy
The study rooms are defined as the two rooms located on the second floor adjacent to the William and Irene Cullen Meeting Room, as well as the study pod.
Purpose: The primary purpose of the Library study rooms is to provide a quiet space for one to three people to study, read, or work together.
Study rooms are limited to no more than three people at a time. The study pod is limited to one person. If the Library needs to use a study room for a Library-related purpose, that use will take priority over other uses.
Meeting rooms (Roosevelt, Trustees’, or Cullen Room) may be used for individual study if the study rooms are not available and the meeting rooms are not reserved for other purposes. However, the meeting rooms may not be reserved in advance for use by just one person.
Reservations: Reservations are required for the study rooms (including walk-in use) and can be requested via the online room reservation system on the Library website or by contacting staff at the reference desk.
All reservation requests are pending until a Library staff member approves them, at which point a confirmation email will be sent to the patron.
Reservations can be made no sooner than one day in advance. Same-day and walk-in reservations are also allowed.
Reservations are limited to a maximum of four hours per day. If, when the reservation time is up, the patron wishes to extend the time, they may check in with a staff member and request an extension in one-hour increments if that study room or another study room is available.
Rooms will be held for 15 minutes past the reservation time, at which point they may be given to another patron. Repeated failure to appear or to notify the Library of a cancellation ahead of time may result in denial of future reservations.
Food, beverages, and room condition: Food is not allowed in the study rooms. Non-alcoholic beverages in containers with lids are allowed in the study rooms. If there is a spill from a patron’s covered beverage, it is the responsibility of the patron to clean up the spill and notify staff of its occurrence. It is the responsibility of the party using the room to clean up after each use and leave the room in the
condition they found it.
Violations: The Library has the authority to deny the use of Library facilities to patrons who do not comply with this policy. Denial of use may be appealed in writing to the Board of Library Trustees.
