Library Card Information

Library cards are free! Any resident of Massachusetts who can provide an ID proving current address is entitled to a library card.

Children (at least 5 years old) requesting a card must come with a parent.

  • Lost cards should be reported immediately. There is no replacement charge for a library card.

  • You must present your card or a photo ID at the Circulation Desk to check out library materials.

  • Library cards may be used at any of the 43 Minuteman libraries.

  • Your library card number and a PIN are required for online access to your account.

Don't have a card yet, but need access right now? We've got you covered!

You can now apply for a library card from the Maynard Public Library online! The library is part of a consortium of libraries known as the Minuteman Library Network. This network now makes it possible for you to complete a form online to create a temporary, electronic, 30-day Minuteman library card.

What are the benefits?

You can use this temporary electronic card to:

  • Login to My Account and establish a PIN.

  • Use state-provided online research databases within Massachusetts only.

  • Place up to 5 requests on Books, DVDs, CDs, etc. in the Minuteman Catalog

  • Use our Digital Catalog.

Important notes:

  • After 30 days, temporary accounts, including item requests, are deleted. This includes items from the Digital Catalog.

  • When visiting the library, please mention that you have already registered for a temporary card and bring your temporary library number or a copy of the confirmation email.

  • When you pick up your full service card you must present a photo ID and proof of address.
