Library Card Information

 

Library cards are free! They are quick and easy to get, with no waiting period.

​

  • Any resident of Massachusetts, age 4 or older, who can provide an ID proving current address is entitled to a library card.

  • Children (4-15 years old) need a parent or guardian’s signature and ID to obtain a card. 

  • There is no replacement charge for a library card. Lost cards should be reported immediately.

  • You must present your card or a photo ID at the Circulation Desk to check out library materials.

  • Library cards may be used at any of the Minuteman Library Network (MLN) libraries. (There are 42 MLN libraries as of May 2022.)

  • Your library card number and a PIN are required for online access to your account.

You can now apply for a library card from the Maynard Public Library online! The library is part of a consortium of libraries known as the Minuteman Library Network. This network now makes it possible for you to complete a form online to create a temporary, electronic, 30-day Minuteman library card.

 

What are the benefits?

You can use this temporary electronic card to:

  • Login to My Account and establish a PIN. 

  • Use state-provided online research databases within Massachusetts only. 

  • Place up to 5 requests on Books, DVDs, CDs, etc. in the Minuteman Catalog

  • Use our Digital Catalog.

Important notes:

  • After 30 days, temporary accounts, including item requests, are deleted. This includes items from the Digital Catalog.

  • When visiting the library, please mention that you have already registered for a temporary card and bring your temporary library number or a copy of the confirmation email. 

  • When you pick up your full service card you must present a photo ID and proof of address.
