Virtual Banned Books Week Trivia & Read Aloud

Test your knowledge of books that have been banned and challenged by matching books to their challenges, deciphering emoji book titles, and more!

Learn about the annual Top 10 list, listen to a read aloud of (at least) one of this year's most frequently challenged books, and discuss the reason we celebrate Banned Books Week every year.

No prior Banned Books Week knowledge needed to participate. For more information on Banned Books Week, visit https://bannedbooksweek.org/

Open to Middle & High School Students. Registration required. Zoom link will be sent out via email once you have registered. 

Youth Authors Double Header! A Virtual Visit from Jack Gantos

Jack Gantos is the author of over 50 picture, middle grade, and YA books! As he describes it, "His work can lead readers from the cradle to the grave."

You probably recognize his works, the latest of which include Dead End in Norvelt (2011) and it's sequel, From Norvelt to Nowhere (2013), The Key that Swallowed Joey Pigza (2014), The Trouble in Me (2015), and Writing Radar: Using Your Journal to Snoop Out and Craft Great Stories (2018). 

Open to all ages. Registration is required, and the Zoom link will be sent via e-mail after registering.

Julie Berry is a former Maynard resident and the author of three picture books, the middle grade novels The Emperor's Ostrich and The Scandalous Sisterhood of Prickwillow Place, and the Young Adult novels The Passion of Dolssa and Lovely War. Her newest book, a middle grade novel titled Wishes and Wellingtons will be out this fall.
