This is a musical program of songs and stories from the American Old West. Stories will be told about life of the first settlers of the American western frontier and how western folk ballads spread news throughout the frontier towns and later incorporated into modern country music. Songs will be performed from such legendary recording artists as Hank Williams, Willie Nelson, Woody Guthrie, Johnny Cash, and Roger Miller. Traditional songs will be sung such as Home On The Range, On Top Of Old Smoky, Ballad Of Jesse James, King Of The Road.
The musicians are Tom Yates of Stow, born in Houston Texas, on guitar and vocals, and Rick Maida of Maynard on bass.
This program is made possible by a grant from the Mass Cultural Council as administered by the Maynard Cultural Council and is co-sponsored by the Friends of the Maynard Library.
