Does your house look like this?


We are glad to accept your book contributions. Items which can be used by the library are added to the collection. Other items wil be sold to The Friends of the Library for their used book sales.

Books need to be in good condition--clean enough that you would buy them yourself for your house. We also accept books on CD, DVDs and music on CD.

Because we are unable to sell them, we are unable to accept the following items:

  1. Magazines (they may be contributed to the "free magazine exchange box" near the first floor stairwell)
  2. "Series" books (Encyclopedias, Time-Life series, etc.)
  3. Books with water damage or that have ANY mold or odor (often comes from storage in cellars or garages)
  4. Books with writing in them (underlining, coloring, etc.)
  5. Damaged books (warped, bent, missing covers, etc.)
  6. Travel or computer books more than 5 years old.
  7. Condensed books and ex-library books.
  8. Textbooks, anthologies, and similar "school" books. (These may be taken to the "Got Books" collection box at Maynard High School. "Got Books" is a for-profit book selling company.)
 
You can drop off your donations at the library any time it is open.  Go past the circulation desk to the stairwell on the right.  If you see some boxes and book racks, you're in the right place!

If you would like a tax receipt for your contribution, please leave a note at the Circulation Desk with your name, address, and a count of items that you are contributing (# of hardcover books, # of softcover books, etc). Our receipt will note the number of books, but we cannot apply a value. We cannot issue receipts for items that we are unable to accept for sale due to condition.

Thanks for your donation! Funds raised from the sales are used by the Friends of the Maynard Public Library to directly support the library. The Friends underwrite the Museum Pass program and provide free educational and entertainment programs throughout the year.
